Wheelchair trip I
When the view outside the window changes every second and each day the sun's rays come into the makeshift bedrooms from a different direction, the understanding of home and what it entails changes dramatically. We set ourselves a goal: 17,000 kilometers, 3 months, 13 countries and 2 continents. This was our home, the whirring of the engine and constant movement. Reaching the westernmost point of Europe - Cape Cabo da Roca - required us to take a different look at ourselves and what our disability is. We've been in wheelchairs for a good few years, but that hasn't stopped us from constantly pushing forward. The project began in 2012, that's when Maciej Kaminski and I decided to embark on the journey, a brief snippet of which is just below this text. It was not easy, we were aware of the hardships that awaited us on the way, but we felt prepared for it. Only after we returned, looking back, did we feel how much had changed, even though perhaps nothing had changed around us. We met new selves. Since then, we look at things differently, we can do much more, and the desire for the next challenge grows in us every day.
