Travel talks and expedition presentations

Stories from the edge of what seems possible

Travelling on my own terms, believing in a goal that seems impossible at first, and staying consistent, step by step, until it becomes real, are the foundations of my talks.

For several years now, I have been sharing my expedition experiences, both on big stages and at smaller, more intimate events. I have spoken in places like Chicago, New York and Seattle, as well as at Poland’s biggest travel festivals and at companies looking for authentic stories and real inspiration.

My presentations are much more than travel stories. They are meetings that help people look differently at their own potential, the role of a team, personal agency and resilience in a world that keeps changing. I show that even with limited resources, whether time, physical ability or money, it is still possible to act effectively and with purpose. I speak from the perspective of a person with a disability, but the stories I share are universal. They resonate with people regardless of their position, experience or industry.

I tailor each meeting to the specific audience and the needs of the organisation. I combine a personal story with photographs from some of the most inaccessible places in the world, emotion and humour, along with reflections that stay with people long after the event is over.

Travel talks and expedition presentations – current presentation topics

Michał Woroch zdjęcie z wyprawy z Ziemi Ognistej przez dwie Ameryki aż na Alaskę

Topic 1: Belief, discipline and purpose, or how small steps can make the impossible possible

This talk is based on the experiences gained during the Wheelchairtrip expedition: 371 days from Tierra del Fuego to Alaska.

Benefits and goals:

This talk, based on the journey through the Americas, is about facing difficult situations and turning them into creative action. It is a story about the limitations and possibilities experienced by people with disabilities. It also helps raise employees’ awareness and general understanding of disability. For many participants, the meeting is also a chance to strengthen their belief in their own abilities and build a stronger sense of agency.

Expedition description:

912 days of preparation and 371 days on the road. From the very south of Tierra del Fuego, through both Americas, all the way to Alaska. This journey was a test of both people and machine. Two friends in wheelchairs, Michał Woroch and Maciej Kamiński, challenged the route, and in many ways, challenged themselves too. For 12 months they travelled in a Land Rover Defender, which they adapted with a range of custom solutions they had designed themselves. At first, when they talked about their plan, people thought they were crazy. But despite all the obstacles, they set off on the journey of a lifetime. Wheelchairtrip means thousands of kilometres across the wild roads of South America. The white sands of the Atacama Desert, a boat journey down the Amazon to Iquitos in the heart of the jungle, sinking in mud, tropical diseases, engine explosions, and one clear goal: to prove that even with a disability, you can complete a route as brutal as this one.

Agenda:
– 912 days of preparation and 371 days on the road, and what it really means to find work-life balance.
– 100 meetings, or how do you convince sponsors that two wheelchair users can travel from Tierra del Fuego, through both Americas, all the way to Alaska?
– Two lifts, six winches, extra power steering, additional brake assistance, changing a manual gearbox into an automatic one… How do you make all of this actually work? The role of self-motivation in reaching a goal.
– Getting the Defender across the Amazon and into the heart of the jungle, or why the hardest challenges help us grow the most.
– Risk management: a solid plan, consistent action and 101 worst-case scenarios before setting off.
– Engine failure in Nicaragua, or how resource management connects with communication.
– Goal achieved, or why the W.R.C. formula is the key to success.

Topic 2: MOŻESZ, an expedition about proving that barriers exist only in our minds

How do you deal with unpredictability, regain a sense of agency and pursue long-term goals in a world full of change? This talk is based on the experiences gained during the ongoing expedition “MOŻESZ: Poland to Australia”.

Benefits and goals:

This talk is an inspiring story about breaking through barriers, both the real ones and the ones we create for ourselves. In a dynamic world where change is the only constant, the MOŻESZ expedition shows how to stay focused, motivated and flexible despite external challenges, limited resources and the need to adapt to new conditions.

The presentation responds to the current needs of organisations and their employees. It touches on topics such as:

– building mental resilience
– managing yourself and a project in uncertain conditions
– inclusion and diversity in action
– the power of storytelling and values in building a personal and team brand
– leadership based on authenticity

For participants, it is a chance to pause, reflect on their own path, the way they work and the way they see their possibilities. For organisations, it is an inspiration to create an environment where everyone can act in line with their values, despite limitations.

Expedition description:

The MOŻESZ project is a months-long expedition from Poland to Australia, carried out in a self-adapted Land Rover Defender. The route leads through Europe, the Middle East and Asia, all the way to Australia. The aim of the project is not only to cover thousands of kilometres, but also to document the lives of people with disabilities in different cultures and living conditions. Along the way, there have been many challenges, from health problems and the need to return home for treatment, to equipment failures and constantly changing border-crossing realities. The expedition was not stopped. It was rethought and reshaped, becoming a metaphor for a flexible approach to life and work. It is not just a travel project. It is a social campaign about agency, courage, independence and the power of working together.

Agenda:

– An unexpected turn of events, or what do you do when the world says “stop”, but you still want to keep going? A story about adaptability and mental resilience.
– Managing yourself and your energy in a long-term project, or how to stay motivated for months when the end of the road is nowhere in sight.
– The decision to return to Poland during the expedition, or when admitting weakness becomes an act of strength.
– How do you find people who will help you when you cannot do it alone? A story about partnership-based communication and building trust without formal structures.
– Working with mechanics in Indonesia, Iran and Pakistan, or how to work with people who do not speak your language, but understand your values.
– The expedition log, storytelling and documentation, or how to tell a story that truly matters.
– Niepełnosprawność jako siła, a nie ograniczenie – czyli jak zmienić punkt widzenia w zespole i firmie.
– “CAN”, not as a motivational slogan, but as a concrete strategy for action.

Topic 3: Managers in the Himalayas, or what an expedition around Annapurna has in common with the process of management

This talk is based on the experiences gained during the Wheelchairtrip Himalayas Challenge 2021 expedition.

Benefits and goals:

This talk, based on the expedition to Nepal, is a powerful lesson in building a positive mindset and strengthening a sense of personal agency. It is also an honest look at failure and at how changing your approach can change the way you deal with problems. It is a story about the limitations and possibilities experienced by people with disabilities. Beyond its motivational value, the story of Bartosz and Michał also shows how new ways of working together can be created within a team, and how important it is to build shared goals.

Expedition description:

950 days of preparation and 41 days on the expedition. The plan seemed simple. The Annapurna massif in Nepal is surrounded by a trekking route that leads to Thorong La Pass at 5,416 metres above sea level. Taking on that challenge were Michał Woroch, creator of Wheelchairtrip, the expedition from Tierra del Fuego through both Americas to Alaska, and Bartosz Mrozek, an extreme sports athlete who also uses a wheelchair. Both decided to take on not only the mountains, but the challenge of technology as well. To make the expedition possible, specially designed four-wheeled electric rovers were built, allowing them to move through difficult terrain. In the end, the real challenge was not just the distance, but also the altitude, the thin air, the snow-covered mountain trail, and the logistical complexity of organising the expedition.

Agenda:

– Building a project team, or how do you choose the people you would travel with to the end of the world?
– Project schedule, or does the perfect plan exist? How do you organise an expedition that has never been done before?
– The role of a project manager, or how did I find myself in that position?
– Risk management, or how do you communicate that the batteries are stuck in customs 1,000 kilometres away from the destination?
– Where do you find the strength to keep going, especially when you wake up in the morning with 2 mm of ice on the outside of your sleeping bag?
– Can failure become a success? 4,050 metres above sea level in winter versus 5,414 metres above sea level in summer.
– Lessons learned, or conclusions and takeaways at the end of a project.
